Weekend Getaway at Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa

When I was looking for a local getaway for my babymoon, I came across Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa. Unfortunately, it was fully booked for the particular weekend I initially wanted, so I ended up going to Oak Island Resort & Conference Centre instead and had a really good time there. However, I still could not get Digby Pines out of my mind, so when another opportunity came up for a relaxing weekend away, I finally booked the trip.

Preparing for the Trip

This trip was meant to be all about relaxation, slowing down, and making beautiful memories, so I made sure to prepare properly before heading out. One thing I absolutely had to pack was enough film for my Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 Instant Camera,

I also packed my swimwear, even though I had already called ahead to confirm whether the pool would be open. For the road trip, I packed snacks, water, comfortable clothes, and all my essentials because the drive from Halifax to Digby is a little over two hours. I wanted the trip to feel easy and stress-free from the very beginning.

The Drive to Digby

The drive from Halifax to Digby was peaceful and scenic. As someone who enjoys discovering more of Nova Scotia, I appreciated how beautiful the route was. Upon arriving in Digby, I immediately noticed how calm and picturesque the town felt. It is surrounded by water, with stunning lookout views almost everywhere you turn.

There is something incredibly peaceful about smaller Nova Scotia towns, and Digby has that charm. The quiet atmosphere, waterfront scenery, and fresh ocean air instantly made the trip feel worthwhile.

My Experience at Digby Pines

My first impression of Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa was simply: wow.

There was ample parking space conveniently located close to the lobby, which made checking in easy. I also noticed there was a children’s playground on the property, making it feel family-friendly while still maintaining a relaxing resort atmosphere.

The staff were incredibly lovely and accommodating throughout the stay. I requested a kettle, fridge, and microwave shortly after arriving, and within less than 30 minutes, everything was provided except for the microwave, which was located on the main floor.

One thing I absolutely loved about the resort was how many beautiful spaces there were to explore within the château-style property. My favourite spot was the lookout area close to the lobby. The water view there was honestly breathtaking and became one of my favourite memories from the trip.

The atmosphere of the resort was also interesting in the best way. There was a mix of younger and older guests, and everyone seemed relaxed and friendly. We also requested to switch from a standard room to a king bedroom, and the staff made the change with absolutely no hesitation.

The dining experience was another highlight of the trip. One thing I really appreciated was that breakfast was included with our stay. The breakfast buffet was honestly a 10/10 experience for me. I especially loved having a chef prepare eggs fresh on the spot. The buffet had a great variety of options and included many of my favourite breakfast foods.

Dinner was equally enjoyable. The restaurant offered an upscale dining experience with a good selection of meals. During dinner, I had the opportunity to try famous Digby scallops for the very first time, and they absolutely lived up to the hype.

The Spa Experience at Digby Pines

The spa experience was another solid 10/10 for me. The staff were warm and welcoming from the moment I arrived. My therapist guided me to the room where I changed into one of their cozy robes before my Eminence body scrub treatment began. The body scrub was a full-body experience from head to toe, and honestly, I had never experienced anything like it before. It felt luxurious, relaxing, and incredibly refreshing all at once.

One of my favourite parts was getting access to the sauna and steam shower privately. Having the space to myself made the entire experience feel even more relaxing and personal. The spa experience included so many firsts for me, and it definitely gave me a good reason to want to return. If you enjoy self-guided spa experiences, you should also check out Sensea Nordic Spa.

Exploring Digby, Nova Scotia

Also, I left the resort to explore more of Digby itself, and I really enjoyed it.

Digby is a small, quiet town with a very calming atmosphere. The downtown area actually reminded me of the Halifax Waterfront in some ways. There were beautiful waterfront views, small boats docked nearby, and the famous lighthouse standing proudly by the water. The town had several little ice cream shops, scenic walkways, and peaceful lookout areas. It also seemed like the perfect place for kayaking and other water activities during warmer months. There are many small lakes nearby as well for people who enjoy outdoor adventures.

I genuinely loved every moment spent exploring downtown Digby.

Final Thoughts

I genuinely enjoyed my stay at Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa. Between the stunning ocean views, relaxing spa experience, friendly staff, and peaceful atmosphere, it ended up being the perfect local getaway. I would absolutely love to return, especially to explore the golf course next time.
